Three Humanities Coordinators Receive Awards for Teaching Excellence

Congratulations to our Humanities faculty who received teaching awards in May 2018! We are proud and grateful to have such great teachers participating in the program. 

Among the many faculty who contribute to Humanities who received awards, three current Humanities Coordinators were recognized:

HUM 214 Coordinator Renuka Gusain received the Award for Teaching Excellence in University Programs
Humanities 324 Coordinator James Perkins received the Award for Teaching Excellence in Natural Sciences
HUM 414 Coordinator Marcus Harvey received the Award for Teaching Excellence in Humanities

Keya Maitra and Katherine Zubko Receive Distinguished Faculty Appointments in the Humanities

Professor Keya Maitra, chair of UNC Asheville’s Department of Philosophy, and Associate Professor of Religious Studies Katherine Zubko have both received appointments to prestigious distinguished professorships in the humanities beginning in the fall 2018 semester. Drs. Maitra and Zubko are both important contributors to the Humanities program, and we are excited for the projects they are planning. UNC Asheville Awarded $700,000 Mellon Foundation Grant for Public Humanities and Community Engagement
